Astone Enforcer Mini ITX Atom CPU

You may not have noticed but I am fond of ATOM powered CPUs. The item posted is my third Atom desktop. I am still currently using my first ATOM CPU and the second one was sold recently (Atom 330 Mini ITX Green CPU).

Processor: This CPU is powered by a 45nm ATOM 330. A ultra-low-voltage Dual Core microprocessor with a processing speed of 1.6Ghz, supports Hyper Threading, and with a TDP of 8w. This processor is soldered in a D945GCLF2 (a.k.a Little Falls 2) motherboard. This is the series of mother with a S-Video out (D945GCLF2D is the series without S-Video). Check out this link for the official documentation.

RAM: i have installed a one stick 2Gb Kingston DDR2-800 SDRAM. The installed RAM is low-profile to further accommodate the space constraints and will give you room inscase you wish to install an ODD (I’ll have this discussed further).

HDD: The currently installed hard disk drive is not what was originally installed when i acquired this unit. It is honestly bigger, in terms of space. The 80Gb SATA Samsung installed is enough to suffice the common tasks that this unit is intended for; i.e. office applications and other internet related use.

Casing: Astone Enforcer Mini. This is one of my favorite small and slim, affordable, and available locally (available in the market as of December 2009 at least). This case has a dimension of 10.5″x12″x2.5″ (lxwxh), 150 watts Power Supply Unit, 2 front USB ports and front audio panel. This fan also comes with a 40mm chassis fan for colling the HDD. However, it is currently unplugged to give the power allocation to a bigger 80mm fan mounted on the processor. This special slim 80mm fan will keep the processor cooled even on an extended use.

As i have mentioned above, the Enforcer Mini has an allocation for a slim optical disk drive. However, i would not recommend it. The case is too small to properly push the hot air out of it. The optical disk drive will just add up to the heat generated by the processor, GPU (Graphic Processing Unit), and the hard disk. What i would recommend is acquiring an external drive which is available at your favorite computer store.

For final thoughts, this setup is a bang-for-the-buck. This unit is best for your everyday needs. I currently use this setup for the typical internet surfing, media player, torrent box, coding, and, photo and graphic manipulation (common to most of you as Photoshop).

Last but not the least, i am quite concerned with the environment right now. With the processors low power consumption feature, you will be consuming more than half of what the typical desktops does.

I am currently offering this at Php7,000, with a 2 weeks personal warranty, and will deliver within Bacoor, Cavite or Las PiƱas City. Please contact me for inquiries.
